The Allium are easy to multiple and are hardy although Some early varieties decease during the summer and require a dry location during their rest period.
Charasteristic for the plants of this family are their ball- or half ball shaped umbels consisting of little star- or clockshaped flowers which spread an unmistakable union smell when you rub them.
